Ign. resistor ?

Now that I junked the electronic ignition in my f600, the replacement condensor lasted only 100 miles or so. She ran great, then went south, before completly refuseing to start. I put in a new condensor and she runs great. I am not using a resistor and am wondering if I should? Would that prolong the life of the condensor? Thanks.

Yes you do need a resistor when running points. I had a set of points melt from doing that.

The condenser in all points systems is rated at 25V so it will be fine in a 6 or 12V system. The resistor is to drop the voltage to the coil so it doesn't burn up. If you have a true 12V coil you dont need the resistor.

Condensers go bad from age which allows moisture to get in and slowly deterioate. Many new condensers from off shore are pure junk, especially Mallory.
Stick to Standard, Blue Streak, Motorcraft or other known brand.
