I have a 2004 F250 6.0 diesel that suddenly began refusing to go above 1500 RPM when under load, particularly uphill.
it slowly weakens and then stalls. Once this happens I have to cycle my fuel pump a few times to get her to restart. I changed all the fuel filters, which were terribly dirty, but that made no difference. About 2 years ago I had to replace the ICP sensor, I've read it could be pigtail related.
I had my shop perform an EGR delete on it about 2 months prior to this issue starting.
I'm at a complete loss not knowing where to begin. Anyone got some ideas?
Has the blue spring upgrade been done to it? IPR screen could be clogged, if it's bad you would get a check engine light (CEL). Do you have a Scangauge or CTS2 or 3, a way to read data from your OBDII port?

No, the blue spring upgrade has not been done as far as I know. I don't have any CEL's, nor do I have a scanner but I suppose it's time to bite the bullet and buy one.
Think it could be fuel pressure related? I hear a hiss coming from near the top fuel bowl so I've wondered if I've got a small leak allowing air in and reducing fuel pressure.
when I rev her up with my foot on the brake she won't go above 1500 RPM and makes a popping sound almost like suction cups being pulled off a door.
Did you change your fuel filters you're self or did you have them changed? Are they genuine OEM or aftermarket filters? It's always best to use OEM genuine Ford oil and fuel filters, the cap just needs to be snugged up when installed or it will easily crack or your O-ring can roll if not lubricated with fuel (always use the new O-ring that comes with the new filter). Check the boot below the air filter, the one that goes in to the charge air cooler, sometimes the air cleaner can rub a hole in it or they just pop off too (check all your boots). What's the build date of your truck, Ford made some major updates to the 6.0L in the 2004 model year.
