I took delivery of my new F350 today and discovered I made a bonehead move, apparently I neglected to check the upfitter switches when I ordered and don't have them. They are essential to the work I do, does anyone know if they can be retrofit? Has anyone actually done it? Are they plug and play or will they have to be wired in? It's a 2021 F350 XLT
Boostedgraygoose makes a harness, but it currently sold out https://www.boostedgreygoosedesigns....fitter-harness. There are other posts where this is detailed, just do a search. It can and has been done before. Good luck.
Search this on YouTube, I saw a video a few weeks back where someone added the factory upfitter switches. I believe they listed the part numbers as well. It was quite involved though. Good luck.
I've done more research and even got a quote from my dealer that I thought was too good to be true. Turns out it was. They didn't research it enough and thought they were just going to pop the row of switches into my overhead console.
From the video and what information I can find online I think there are 4 parts needed, the overhead console with switches, the harness over the headliner that travels down the A pillar, another harness under the hood and the relay block. I've found a few trucks in salvage yards with everything available but I'm a little concerned that there may have been a change with the 2020 model year. Every photo I've seen of a 2020 or 2021 model has the relay box near the passenger side battery. I have a 2019 F550 at work equipped with them and the relay box is on the driver's side. All of the salvage trucks I've found are pre 2020. Can anyone confirm my suspicions?
I installed the upfitter switches into my 2015 F-150 Lariat. I can tell you the hardest part is finding the correct overhead console for your truck. Your best bet is to find a truck with the switches that has the same other options and color as your console and use it's VIN for the correct part #.
You will have to pull down the overhead console (just pops out with a pry tool), run a harness over to the A pillar, run that harness outside to the upfitter relay box, mount the upfitter relay box under the hood and run the power cable for the upfitter box to the BCM or battery. I highly recommend you ping 2016BoostedGreyGoose and see if he will make a harness for you. If you can solder you can make the existing wiring work, with some adds and modifications.
If you are wanting some pics, I documented my install on the F-150 forum. This is the thread - it is long but has tons of pictures and info from multiple people doing the same install. Upfitter switch installation
If you didnt get truck with it I wouldn't even bother trying to add OEM. Go with Switch Pro's. Far better setup. They're customizable as well and not just the stickers. You can set what buttons will FLASH, change Color, etc. So if you have lights you can make them strobe, etc.
Thanks for the info B-Man, I'll take a look at that thread. I had noticed there are a number of variants on the console, I really don't have any options that are switched through the console.
And thanks guys for the alternative choices, I'll look them over. I had been in the fire service for over 30 years but it looks like there have been a lot of advancements since I retired!
I do commercial snowplowing and will be setting my truck up with auxiliary lighting, I'm in a rural area and it gets pretty dark out here!

You're welcome. FWIW - it's not that you have "any options switched through the console" - it's trying to find the right color and config. There are so many combinations available (security sensors, moon roof, power rear window, overhead lighting, etc.) that many of the F-150 guys ordered and returned incorrect consoles. Color descriptions also proved to be problematic for a lot of folks. The VIN method gives you a leg up - but only if you can find one.
As others have stated in this thread there are aftermarket solution available as well. There are quite a few in the thread I posted earlier. Some look really good. If you don't mind losing the sunglasses holder this solution is pretty slick: SPOD Switch Set-Up
