No Back Lights???
I've noticed my 4x4 buttons no longer are back lit when my lights are on, on my 92 explorer, the 4x4 also does not engage it clicks once and thats it i did the self test with the computer and found its not the computer, could the back lights on the 4x4 button be a corralation with the 4x4 not engaging?? I have not tryed to clean the engament motor yet....i want to avoid it if i can......am told it takes a while and i dont know how ez it will be.....or how to splice the wires back together any suggetions, on why i have no back light on my 4x4 button or why my 4x4 no longer works, also last winter i would sometimes have to push the button a few times before the 4x4 would engage, but i would hear it clicking trying to engage, PLEASE HELP WINTER IS COMMING CANT GO WITH OUT 4X4!!!!!!!!!!

This could be a problem with the autolocking hubs. The locking mechanism is made out of plastic and I have seen a number of posts on the topic here. You could pull the front hubs apart, which is not that difficult, and replace anything that is broken. Or you could just replace the entire assembly with manual locking hubs.
