78 F150 460 C6 2wd. I'm thinking of changing out my ported vacuum switch more out of caution than anything else. In my looking for a new one I find there are 4 different ones.
Black
Yellow Brown
Green w/o solenoid
I know that they are temp controlled. Does anyone know what the temp ranges are? Are they also application specific?
My truck has the yellow one on it.
The sticker on the drivers side valve cover has a calibration number which represents how your motor was originally provisioned for emissions. The sum total of those parts were meant to work together changing them can have adverse consequences in how your motor performs so if it came with yellow then that's what should be the replacement. If you are uncertain post the calibration number and we'll try to reference the emissions diagram to determine if you have all the parts that the emissions system was originally provisioned with.
Thanks for the reply. Most of the calibration number has been rubbed off. And the emissions were 90+% gone when I got the truck. The vacuum switch is about the only thing left and I figured for safeties sake to keep it in case of overheating. One of the first things I had to deal with was a straight bore holley mounted on the 4350 spread bore spacer. After doing some research the holley came off a 66 Mustang 289HP engine.
Again thank you for answering.
That's what many are left with is making the motor run as efficiently as possible with the pieces that are left. Is the intake a seventies spread bore? Is the air cleaner original?
The intake is original spread bore and I think the air cleaner is also. The air cleaner snorkel does not the vacuum for the hot/cold air flap. Its got the barometric bulb and it seems to be working at least some.
