Welcome to FTE!

I will get to you tomorrow. Can you post a picture of the warranty tag which should be riveted to the driver's door below the latch? More information is on that.

I hate when that happens. Well if anything is legible at least you would have that much. Otherwise it's the vin tomorrow .

F70 = F700 gas

F = 391 4V FT gas V8.

V = Kentucky Truck Plant

T85115 = 1974 numerical series

That's it on the VIN.

See if you can coax that stuff off the tag.

5 & 2 with a 391 is a good combo. Still, look for 65-70, maybe 75 mph as the "wall" where wind resistance, friction etc meet horsepower and gearing in a draw.

Check your wheels to make sure you don't have widowmakers. (tube type with no locking ring visible on the front wheel) If you see that, post some pics to confirm.

Brake parts are available at NAPA. (You have to change vehicle type to "medium/heavy") BUT new drums are NOT available.

If you are not familiar with the 2 speed axle I can give you a link to Eaton videos. Breaking the two speed or having it hang up at the wrong time can be rather expensive.

OK to pick up after the series number:

230 = 230 inch wheelbase (if I read that right)

No color code, note this is a special order truck

F700 = '73 to '77 F700 gas, 19,200lbs GVWR (conflicts with GVWR on tag)

4A8 = Standard cab, I do not have upholstery or seat info

M = Clark model 285V five speed direct transmission

534
53 = Rockwell (Timken) model H-170 single speed rear axle, 17,500lbs capacity, 6.14 ratio (you say you have a 2 speed, could have been swapped in)
4 = Ford 7,000 capcity front axle without power steering

23160 = 23,160lbs GVWR, conflicts with model info

247230
24 = Jacksonville District Code
7230 = Special Order Number

So a couple discrepancies. Usually if an item is part of the special order, it is not listed on the tag. Engine, transmission, axle for example. On this plate, there is no color code, so the non-standard color was part of the special order. 2 speed axles were very common and would be listed if part of the order for the truck, as it wouldn't usually be a special order. If it was, the axle code should be blank.

You might be able to get more info through https://www.martiauto.com/martireports.cfm

Does the title match the tag for the VIN? If you can, look on the passenger side frame rail. On the top, near the RF corner of the engine, sometimes right where the alternator is mounted and close to the frame, the VIN is stamped into the top of the frame. Sometimes a little one way or the other.

That door tag has had one rivet replaced--you never know. Equipment like the 2 speed and PS could have been added, or a door was brought over from another truck that kind of matched....who knows. But if the VIN on the frame matches, then it's just some swap out items.

Better with PS and the 2 speed anyway.
