Thanks in advance for any help.... recently acquired a 1976 F250 highboy. Needs a new gas tank behind the seat. The one in it is beyond repair. The only luck I’ve had finding anything is one from Auto Metal Direct. Their part number is #890-4561 and it is for 61-72 F100 and F250 w/o EEC. They say it replaces Ford part #DOTZ-9002A. My question is could I make this fit. All I can do is look at their pictures online. If the mounting holes would come close I think a guy could maybe make this work. Says it’s 19.5 gallons and looks like that’s what the 1976 F250 had behind the seat. The guy I talked to there said flange could be drilled with out a problem.
thanks
I personally have not mounted this tank but there have been several who have on FTE and so far I have not heard any negative reports. Your lucky to find a source, the ones at LMC for 61-72 are still on back order.
I keep looking for pics of a 61 to 72 gas tank to maybe see what the mounting bolts look like but no luck so far. I haven’t purchased any shop manuals yet.
