steering wheel stereo control
You will need to change data in the SCCM. I strongly suggest you back up the data in the module before you mess around with it.
Switch Steering Wheel Buttons SCCM 724-01-01 xxxx 0xxx xx Cluster Crossover Cfg: 0=disable, 8=enable
If you like your stereo buttons on the left instead of the right this value will swap button functions from right bank to left bank. Note: This is only for the Up,Down,Right,Left/Center buttons. Not the lower set for cruise control, voice commands, etc.
Basically, you will change the 0 to an 8 and that will swap the controls from side to side.

It took me a while to get used to it, but 99% of my driving is in my truck. So, I'm good with it now, but these are the little things that really make you wonder about design and test. There are a million features on a car, so was this one of the features that they didn't have time to try and test? Did they test it but nobody noticed because all of the testers only ever drove Ford vehicles? Did they test it, get the feeback, but decided it was too low on the priority list to fix? Something else?
I'm thinking that there may have been a conversation that went something like, "Nobody is going to buy or not buy a vehicle based on the side location of the steering wheel audio controls. We have deadlines and launch dates. Change it if you have time, but otherwise, don't worry about it."
