Part Numbers 92 L8000

I have a 97 L8000 as well. I don't even bother asking anyone to look up parts for me. All you get is "year, make and model." I have a question for the group. Was the 8000 ever offered with the 3408 cat engine? I was looking up auction results and saw where one had sold. I assumed it was a typo and they meant to write 3208. I would be very interested if the 3408 was an option.

The 3408 was never installed in a L model and I don’t think it was installed in any Ford chassis
During my trucking career the only trucks I saw with 3408’s were Kenworth and Peterbilt’s, there may have been a few others but the added weight and cost of the engine made it less desirable than the newer 3406 engines that replaced the once popular 1693TA

Wishful thinking I guess. I would like to have some more power than the 8.3 can give me but there isn't a lot of room under that hood. Thanks for the reply.

Yea you need a 9000 cab and chassis to get up to the larger engines
