I have a 1985 Ford F-150 v8 351w HO and it use idling really rough. When in park and neutral the rpms sound very high (I haven’t checked) and it’s still rough in gear. It sounds better when driving. I need to adjust the fuel mixture screws ( I can I can only find one though). I’m waiting in a vacuum gauge though. Is there anything else I should check?
How long has it been like this?
You just get the truck so don't know or you have had it for years and just started doing this?
If just started what was done just before this started, tune up maybe?
Have you done a compression test on the motor?
Little more information is needed to help you better.

If the idle is really high, you will not be able to adjust the idle mixture screws. They only have an affect at idle, when the engine is turning slowly. I would look for the reason of the high idle. Make sure your choke is open all the way after it's fully warmed up.

vacuum leak will also cause high idle and could run ruff.
