Hood bent?
I started doing some body work on my 77 and the more I look at the hood I’m thinking it could be bent. Both hood hinges rub on the insides and the center of the hood at the cowl is a lot higher than the cowl. It sits lower than the cowl out to the sides. Could it have gotten bent at some point before I had put it on my truck? I put it on there years ago but never paid much attention how is sat.

Often what happens in humid environments with the hinges on these hoods when they are seldomly used is they start to rust and bind up and reach a point where when someone attempts to open the hood they can tweak things. If currently the hood is out of alignment first try and lubricate the hinges back to fully opening and shutting operation. It may take several applications of your favorite rust busting spray lube. Now take a look and see where realignment may be needed and adjust accordingly. Replace the hood bump stops if needed before final alignment. .
