53 - 56 Crossmember ?

When doing a swap, why do you have to modify the old bellhousing crossmember? The one that needs to be there. Exhaust routing, too low with dropped ifs?

Mainly for transmission removal later or for clearance depending on type of transmission. I cut mine so I could remove it and I'm glad I did...there is pics in my pickup build thread..You can however leave it there..

It has been mentioned here several times that if you do remove that crossmember you need to replace it with something similar, or modifiy the original like John did. If you leave it out the cab supports will flex down and mess things up.
