What is causing my 2001 Exp. to hesitate. Just started doing it and the check engine light is now on. In the process of changing plugs. What a job that is.
When posting it's probably a good idea to narrow down your problem, for example is it hesitating on accelleration, just in general??
Another good idea is to specify what engine it has, and the trim level (ex. 2001 XLT 4x4 with the 5.4).
Yet another good idea is to estimate your mileage, as some problems arrise more typically between mileage ranges.
I would check all of the intake for leaks, especially after the Mass Airflow Sensor. I'd also clean the MAF - definatelly if you're running a K&N filter. If none of these help, check the PCV valve Also it's probably a good idea to change your air filter, and fuel filter. Most likely it's an intake problem.
Since you mentioned you're replacing your spark plugs, I would seriouslly recommend checking to make sure they are tight at your next oil change. It may sound like a dumb idea, but it could save you from buying a new head, hood, and whatever else could be damaged from shooting a spark plug out.
IT has a 4.6 in it and arond 60k miles. The hesitation occurs usually during acceleration. I put some fuel cleaner in it nd the problem stopped for a short while. The problem doesn't occur right at first only when it is warmed up.
