Looking for a Bed Cap

I am currently pulling a 6700 lb travel trailer with my 2019 6.2. I am thinking of get a camper shell for the bed of the truck to maybe help with some of the wind resistance hitting the front of the trailer plus having more storage space while travelling. If anyone has pictures of what they have along with brand the help would be appreciated.

Here are some shots of my Leer 122 Hi-Rise shell. I like the extra room to move around when loading/unloading stuff. I can confirm that the higher top on the shell does move the bug line up the front cap of the trailer which is nice. Whether or not it makes a difference in fuel economy when towing by reducing resistance I'm not sure. My initial unscientific study based on traveling the same route before the shell and after shows maybe .3 or .4 increase - or it could have just been a tail wind. I do like the looks and it suites my needs very well so I'm happy with the upgrade. I feel like the Leer is a little more solid than the Snugtop I looked at.

ttavasc,

I like your truck/topper/trailer combo. I see you have an Outdoors RV. The ORV 20 BD is my lead candidate for a TT. Looking to use it in regular campgrounds plus boondocking on National Forest and BLM land. It sounds like the ORVs can handle the dirt roads with ruts, some wash outs and pot holes. Have you done any of this with your trailer? If so, is there any issue with dust incursion through the slide perimeter? Are you happy with the ORV quality, interior, insulation? Would you buy one again?

Appreciate the feed back from a real owner. Thanks

We have been down some dirt and gravel roads and the ORV has done fine with those. I've not seen any dust coming through the slide seals, though it could be that we've just not been in that environment long enough for there to be any noticeable accumulations. We do have the upgraded 16" wheels which provides some extra clearance. Overall we are very happy with the quality and performance. End of March we spent a week in southern Utah where it dipped to around, or just below freezing each night, plus a couple days we had a few inches of snow. We kept the furnace set at ~60 overnight and I'd say that it ran about 10 minutes every hour to maintain that. Our youngest daughter had come up from Arizona to stay with us for the week and commented that the lower bunk didn't seem to get any heat from the furnace overnight so I just finished adding a low-flow furnace outlet about half-way back into the lower bunk area which should take that extra chill off in those conditions. So far we've put just under 13k miles on this unit and it tows really nice with the Blue Ox and the 6.2L. If we were looking to buy again ORV would definitely be at the top of our list given our experience so far. We also looked at Arctic Fox/Nash (Northwood Mfg - sister company to ORV) as they use same custom frame but the combination of size, layout and interior colors/fabrics tipped us over to the ORV.
