Leveling Coils Springs

I was looking on ebay I saw a set of 1.5" leveling coil springs. I like that idea of leveling out my truck. However, it looks to me that installing these would through the truck out of line, and cause tires to wear really bad on the outiside. Anyone every have any experience with these?

That's true - any work you do on the front or rear suspension should be followed up with an alignment - or you run the risk of grinding off your tires in about 500 miles.

i have put 2inch lift coil springs on the front of my 82 f250 2wd . if you do this lift you have to also buy the kit to lower the I beams under the motor or you will have negative camber

I put a set of 1.5 - 2" levelers on my 80 f150. yes they will throw the allignment out but it probably needs done anyway. the set I bought from JC Whitney came with a set of caster camber bushings. after we installed the coils the first trip was to the tire shop for allignment. the guy had a hexk of a time getting it right but once he dis i rides fine and i do not notice any abnormal tire wear.. i did not need the lowering brackets for the control arms. the only thing that I wish i had done different would be to replace the axle pivot bushings and the trac arm bushings at the same time....it is now 8 months later and they now need done... that means another allignment.

one other thing that you may want to discuss with your allignment guy...when we set mine we left it out a little bit \----/ that way, (as the coils break in they will sag a bit from new to about 6 months old as they wear in) once they settle in your allignment is correct |----| instead of starting correct and then sagging in /---\ .

any way, it worked out well for me. the only thing that i wish that I had spaced down is the pitman arm ..

Would coil over shocks do the same thing? I'm considering them on my 84 F-250 with 351w and never considered that it might mess with the alignment. Comments?

Coilovers will not do the same thing..the theory behind coilovers is roughly the same as adding oveload springs.... they only come into play under heavy load....no bennifit on the front unless you have a really heavy brush-guard , a plow, or a monster winch
