Another fuel filter question
Well I did the auto tranny fluid filter thing. Piece of cake, though I did jack it up a little. Made it easy to roll around.
Anyway, I was going to change the fuel filter as long as I was there. Went through all the instructions. The parts guys assured me I did not need a special tool to get the lines off. They would not budge. It does have two metal clips that hold the lines on. I removed these with a screw driver. We had had the truck off for some time so didn't relieve the fuel pressure. Could this be the reason for the problem? That is about all I can think of.
See sig for truck.
Any input will be appreciated.
Thanks.
Frank
You will need these:

You don't have to purchase them from MAC tools. Most parts stores carry them. I got a set from Sears...$10.00 which covers 5/16 up to 3/4" lines.
Be sure you de-pressurize the fuel lines. If the fuel system is in good working order it will hold pressure for days... (Trip the inertia switch under the dash and start the truck, let it run until it dies and attempt to start it one last time). YOU WILL get gas on you when you pull the lines off. Fuel still remains in the lines.
Wear safety glasses (Fuel burns like fire in your eyes) and rubber gloves (gasoline causes cancer and is absorbed through you skin).
Oh...be sure you have access to a Fire Extinguisher.
Sorry for the caution... I just no first hand how bad it can be...
The method I used was to start the engine, then pull the fuel pump fuse. The engine then died out. I then cranked the engine a few times just to pull more pressure out. The lines still dripped a little bit, but nothing that a handy rag couldn't absorb.
