Help. I had a transmission rebuild, but now I don't "fee" overdrive off working

I have a 2010 Ford Edge that just had it's transmission rebuilt at about 200000. I use this car as a back up tow vehicle when my work van is down.
It has the tow package that can tow 3500lbs but I only tow 2000

When towing, i always have "Overdrive OFF". and could feel the vehicle pull back, hear the high rpms and see the rpms go up when engaged. I use it when towing.

The problem is, now that the transmission has been rebuilt, the light does go on and off, but i no longer hear the rpms go up and the vehicle doesn't bull back when i tap the brakes (this is how I always tested it even before the transmission went down.

I called the mechanic and told him about it, he said that if the light is going on and off then its working. But I know my vehicle and it's simply not doing what it used to do.

He said that the computer regulates it and that it cannot be adjusted. So I'm wondering, what are my options here? Im not crazy, I know that its not doing what it was doing, light on or not.

Any advice?
