Not really sure but I'm sure someone on here knows. I have a 97 f250 with the 5.8 Windsor. Then I have an 04 f250 with the 5.4 3v. The 5.4 is crap. I was wondering if there was an adapter for the transmission to do a swap? Any tips or know how would be awesome.
The 1997 F250 351w was rated at: Horsepower of 210 at 3600 RPM, with 330 lb-ft of torque at 2600 rpm
The 2004 F250 5.4 was rated at: Horsepower of 260 hp @ 4500 rpm, with 350 lb-ft of torque @ 2500 rpm
IMHO, you either have a gearing issue (including oversized tires) or a mechanical related issue with the 5.4 as it should be pulling as well as the 351w.
Although swapping engines is possible, you are going to spend a fortune modifying the electronics as well as making the truck un-sale-able since the engine swap would be considered "Illegal" under federal law. IMHO, need to ID/diagnose the specific issue with the 5.4 and go from there.
