On the Ford online "build and price" configurator I noticed that some options state "not available with pickup box delete." Is this a different option than ordering a cab chassis truck? If so, what is entailed with going that route? Obviously it's going to limit things like cameras, BLIS, box lighting, etc. but there's no checkbox option on the website to see what configurations you can build with it.
I've read multiple threads from others with canbus issues putting flat beds on regular box trucks and the bulletins to sort it out. Seems to be a bit of a headache. Personally I don't care for the cab chassis option with the higher payload and stiffer rear springs, or the power de-rate on the diesels (if they are still doing that). Ordering a standard F-450 pickup without the box seems more appealing for people like me that still want a flatbed with the pickup ratings.

Thanks for the info! Kind of odd they don't offer it on F-250s with trailer tow packages, but do offer it without and on F-350s. Also odd you can get it with a 6.2 gas or 6.7 diesel but not the 7.3.
I want the flatbed for ease of hooking up gooseneck trailers, built-in toolboxes around the skirts without losing bed space, and the deck space for hauling two snowmobiles or 4-wheelers side-by-side. Not so much because I'm going to be hauling a ton of extra payload. I think the wider rear axle looks better under the bed and fills out the wheel wells as well. And as I said I'm not crazy about the power de-rate on the diesels in the CC. The box delete seemed appealing to save a little on a new one. Granted re-sale on one without a bed isn't as good, but I tend to keep trucks for a long time anyway so sort of a moot point for me.
There is an upfitter kit misc to remove the bed and bliss etc.
So they have it sorted out well enough that a competent dealer can give you a harness to plug in between the truck and flatbed harness that clears up the issues, or does it still have to go to the dealer for them to de-activate certain things after it's installed? Local dealer for the brands of flatbeds I was looking at here didn't have a clue about any issues or how to resolve them on my 2017. Pretty much made me decide I'm never taking anything there to have them do a bed install.
