9th to 8th downshift kick, normal?
Hi Guys. I’m new to the forum. My truck is 2020 F250 CCSB 7.3. I love the truck so far but the tranny behavior is a bit concerning. I wonder how many people are experiencing similar stuff.
when in 9th gear around 50-60 mph, with a bit throttle, it goes into 8th. 7 out 10 times, I can feel a slight kick after going into 8th, sometime it downshift smoothly. It felt like the engine rev is slightly behind during downshift. You know what it feels like if you drive a stick shift. The kick isn’t crazy like the whole truck is shaking or slipping tires, but I’ve never had anything like this with the 6 speed.
10-8 direct downshift is smooth, so does all other downshift and upshift. Only other problem is the slight noticeable 5-3-1 downshift when braking aggressively to a dead stop and seems many people are experiencing this. Just wonder how many people are having this kick during 9-8 downshift? Sounds like a software issue to me or maybe I taught the tranny some bad habit since I have a feather foot.
