I was looking at my kingpin bushings and noticed the grease channels aren't symmetrical. There is a triangular hole in each bushing that should line up with the grease zerk opening. Should the triangle point up or down? I didn't think to take a picture of the old bushing orientation since I assumed they were symmetrical. Does anyone know what the heck I'm talking about? Does anyone care?
I didn't think to check if the grease opening was off center. If that's the case, even I could figure out which way they go.
Carl,
The first thing I checked was the manual. These are FoMoCo bushings so I was hoping maybe it would mention it. I need you to email me your last name, Carl. I have a check here for those blasting nozzles you sent me. I assume there's more than one Carl in your neck of the woods otherwise the post office could probably figure it out. I sent you a couple emails but I know you don't check that very often.
My king pin bushings had triangular cut outs in them as well. I lined them up with the zirk fitting so that when you shoot the grease into them, the zig zag pattern distributes the grease more easily and evenly. I have to assume that was what they were designed for. I took the spindles to a truck shop to have them reamed. I think it cost me about $25 to have both of them reamed.
