what trans can i use
i have a 1987 2wd f150 with 4.9L 6 cylinder. I need to replace my 3sp w/ overdrive manual trans and would like to know the different types i can use. The manaul has three types, Borg Warner T-18, New Process 435, Ford TOD. I dont' know which one i have and have to look at the trans. And could other tranmissions work from different engine types and years. Thanks

well currently. I just swapped out my 4.9L for a 5.0 when a wrinst pin went. the 302 came off a 79 cast toploader as the way my borther puts it.
I am going to now put the toploader in place of that crappy 3+Od stick ford put in. the thing is getting really noisey when driving.
the mount point look like bolt up. I will let you know!

a wrist pin? ive heard from alot of people who lost their 300 to a wrist pin, well im waitin for mine to break one, because im ready to wedge a 460 in my truck.

yup. knockin like a mad man wanting to get into your house!
got worse when it warmed up. no noises could be heard on the bottom end. and it wans't the cam.
didn;t know about the spark plug thing untill after the 302 went in!
460. I think that will be a tight fit. whats it going into?
