New to the forum and I have searched with no solution. 1991 F-150 Auto and a fuel injected 5.0. Both tanks have fuel and it runs great on the rear tank. The problem is as soon as I switch to the front tank it dies immediately. If anyone can tell me where to go. I mean where to start looking I can start looking. Thanks for the help in advance. Terry
Verify good ground and good power to front tank.
Bad ground or no power, you'll have to diagnose back.
If there's 12v power and good ground, your fuel pump needs to be replaced.
Hundreds of fuel threads and you couldn’t find one? Unlike another forum I am on, the search function is actually pretty good on this website. Maybe your search fu is bad.
If the truck runs good on the rear pump but not on the front then it sounds like the pump isn’t working properly: either it is dead or not putting out enough pressure. Does it sound like the pump is turning on? With the front pump selected, turn the key to run and listen for the pump the run for a couple seconds. Did it turn on? If not then you need to do as stated in the previous post. If it does turn on then you should put a pressure gauge on the test port on the fuel rail.
Thanks for the quick replies. The quick check is no sound from the front pump. Checking for pwr and gnd next. BTW this is my first Ford. I know 64, 65 and 66 Chevy truck pretty well.
