Question SYNC 3 quite screen

Anybody know if there is a way to add a shortcut or easter egg touch point to get the quiet screen to appear. I see the 21s have a dedicated button for it and honestly I find none of the screens tolerable for long drives. Be nice to note have to go though 3-5 clicks and swipes constant tp get back to the quiet screen...

What’s a “quiet screen”.

simple time and date(?) in the center of the screen - nothing else displayed.

I've never heard of this, but have always wished my 19 had a dedicated display on/off button.

Agree with the above. My wife’s Expedition has a button to turn off the screen which is great for longer night drives. Really wish my super duty had the same.

Doesn't the Display / Mode menu selection permit one of four options: Auto / Day / Night / Off to be chosen?

Yes, thats the problem and the reason for the OP making this thread.

Very true.

The ultimate Quiet Screen is just to turn the display off in the Settings menu.

This is what I do when I'm driving at night.

And you wouldn't prefer to be able to press 1 button to occomplish that? Rather than the 3 or 5 swipe/clicks through the screen menu it takes.

Ummmm, it doesn’t matter to me either way.

Regardless if it’s one tap on the screen or a few taps and a swipe or two, this specific task will only take a few seconds out of my day or night.

I see, you're a one and done user of the screen. I cant come up with one reason why multiple steps to accomplish one task would be better than one step.

For me, a dedicated display on/off button or screen tab would make it far easier to kill the screen between phone use, audio source/station chages, nav changes, climate changes....you get it, that can be numerous times throughout an evening. Enough to where 3 to 5 swipes/clicks each time is a hassle. So what happens, I just live with the screen being on.

That is why this thread sparked my interest.

All valid feedback.

My preference is exactly the opposite. I would never use that screen pushbutton and I prefer having soft keys for those functions.

The soft keys keep the dash MUCH less cluttered. They permit software updates to change the functions. But, most especially, my preference is to have the display as large as possible. Every pushbutton limits the possible size of the display.

The only hard control I really use is the volume ****.

I wasn't saying I necessarily prefer a hard button, although there is plenty of plastic real-estate on the dash, thats why a said either a dedicated button or screen tab. A display on/off tab on the home screen would be great. In fact, what the OP is looking for would be on the touch screen itself, just not 3 or 5 swipes/clicks away.

Unfortunately it's looking like something thats not possible to enable on these trucks.

Or a simple button to turn it off like previous models.
