Hello again,
First I want to thank all for helping me in my quest to improve my ride quality education. The spring and shock recommendations have been spot on and will be implemented. I'm meeting with my shop today to finalize everything and schedule the job. I have decided to put new tires on as well. I am going with the Michelin Defender LTX MS. OEM tire size is the LT265 / 75 R16. I am considering increasing the footprint to LT285. The width difference is about 3/4 of an inch. I was wondering if anyone has done this. Should I have any concerns about this affecting handling or ABS performance or am I just over thinking this? Being retired and on a fixed income I'm only going to get one shot at this.

Interested as well in the answer.
However, I will say that the Michelins are a great tire. I have a set that's got probably 70K on them and they are just starting to show signs of wear. I expect to get at least another 20-30K out of them. I'd have to find the paperwork to verify, but it's awful close to that. The only thing I don't like about them is that they tend to spin on wet pavement when I get down on the skinny pedal. But, having a Cummins under the hood and a standard transmission, I get a fair amount of straight through torque. So, I can't be too upset about them spinning once in a while.

You should see no problems in performance with the 285’s. I as well as many other members have 285’s on stock rims and have experienced no problems with them , in fact I found that my speedometer was more accurate with them. I have the Bridgestone Dueler Revo II (which have been replaced by the Revo III) which have performed extremely well for me, especially in the snow and they look better in the large wheel well that our Ex have.. Been running them on both our trucks on stock wheels forever. Only thing I've noticed...other than liking them more aesthetically given they fill up the wheel wells more...is that they ride better given there's more sidewall. The 285 tires also have a bit more tread when new.
