V10 with blown spark plug

V10 with blown spark plug

My f250 blew a spark plug a week or so ago and went to the shop and got an insert put in. Come to find out it was a cheap NAPA insert, not a Timesert and it spit it out the day of getting the truck back. I’ve had three on the passenger side go and none on the drivers side. Would replacing the head be a viable fix to prevent the other 2 from going?

TimeSert all of them and be done with it. No need (probably) to replace the head unless there was an extreme loss of material with the subsequent blowouts. A "replacement" head, unless modified, would have the original concern anyway.

FWIW, doubling the factory-recommended torque to 25-28 lb-ft on the plugs appears to prevent the blowout issue.

That was my thought, however both my father and our mechanic thought it was the right thing to do, so I guess time will tell
