Oh no there is a procedure for starting a push button 6.7.
Go figure. I wonder how many owners are doing that startup procedure. Why not handle it like the BCM does for remote start and if too cold, display a message on screen to please wait when it doesn't immediately start for the impatient who will keep pressing the button expecting faster results.
I guess they needed a method to cycle the glow plugs in extreme cold where remote start can fail. Maybe the cluster display doesn't work in extreme cold either.
I was as surprised as you when I heard of a start procedure for the push to start models. I'm guessing very few do it that way.
I do on mine, mostly because it might sit in the garage for 6 to 8 weeks without being started, I do it mainly to let the fuel pump purge the fuel system.
when it is extremely cold and I don't do it the truck still warms the glow plugs before it will start. ie. jump in push brake pedal push button, dash displays something about delayed starting, then it starts.
Now where is the thread about Ford denying warranty because you don't use this startup procedure
That might be difficult since it doesn't really align with how it's written in the OM. The manual only describes the procedure shown in the video for cold weather starting.
Here is the keyless start procedure (not cold weather?).
Cold Weather Sarting (says "turn the key" but I assume it applies to keyless too)
Maybe it's because this is my first push button start vehicle, or because I have always waited several seconds between on and start in my keyed vehicles, but from day one I have always used the starting procedure shown in the video in my SD.
Interesting. I have never done this with my pushbutton 22. The startup sequence seems no different whether I'm remote starting or inside pressing the brake pedal and touching the button once. I live where it gets cold.
On a side note. I have never plugged in my 17. -40° out all night the GPs heat for about 5 seconds and it fires right off.
