I have a 1998 Expedition that I have owned from new. It currently has 50K miles on it. It also has the orginal tires (still pretty good condition) and the orginal shocks. I orginally put on when I purchased the SUV, 3" fish eye convex mirrors on the larger mirrors to avoid blind spots. The mirrors have been solid for the first 4 years. I have now for the last year or so noticed that the mirrors (both of them) shake/vibrate while driving. Most noticable on the highway. Almost seems that they may fall out from the vibration but I assume they wont. The ride still seems smooth but the shaky mirrors is a PITA. This is just an annoyance but I figured I would ask here. Any one else have this problem or know of a cure for the problem? TIA Jim
It's a common malady with these vehicles. I don't know of a solution to the problem though. You'd think Ford would offer some suggestion through a TSB or something. You might try calling a few local dealership service depts.
Sometimes a bug shield or adding a spot mirror can do it with time. I've seen this with all makes. Sometimes you can take it apart to check whats coming loose.. and if lucky it can be fix by doing this.. I've already had to replace mine because of BAD glass with the signal. It's problem is with GM big time, but they all get tricky at times..GOOD LUCK!!
