After a new starter; new coil , and starter solenoid I still get no crank. I have posted pictures on how it looks now. I do have lights, and air brake "beep" but nothing happens when turning the key to start. The truck is a fire truck on which I removed the battery switch inside. If there is any one could help , thanks.
Andy
I would take an ohm meter and check resistance from the solenoid mounting bracket to the negative battery cable or a good, clean spot on the frame...it looks suspect to me...and the bracket has to be grounded for the solenoid to work....and make sure that is the correct ford style solenoid with the S and I terminals...
Is the cable from the solenoid to the starter grounded? Looks like it might be.
Will have to double check. I just get a click from the starter and no movement . Seems the engine is locked. So far all the pulleys are good, I'm waiting for a new Starter Solenoid . KNOCK on wood.
Jump the solenoid and see if it cranks. this will tell you where to look.
Be sure it's out of gear of course.
Going to to check my grounds and buy a new solenoid, I just get a click , I got power to ignition coil, also have a trigger tool, but no luck. I tried to put power directly to the starter but it just clicks. BTW its brand new coil;starter and starter/ground wires. MMMM
Pull the spark plugs, put a socket and breaker bar on the crank bolt, and see if the engine will turn over. If it turns over, make a complete revolution and check for any fluids coming out of any cylinders. If so, that would indicate hydraulic lock is your current problem.
If the engine will bar over, then try the starter.
So the engine turns now, ATF/Acetone trick. New starter ,plugs & wires as well as a coil but no spark. Next step is ignition module. Any thoughts. Thanks again , Andy
Hey everybody, So I have no spark, I was told there was ballast resistor that possibly overheated. I posted some photos. Any ideas what is happened with all this old wiring. By the wire it was a old fire truck. Thank again ballast link
