History. 2005 Lariat Supercrew 4x4. I purchased this vehicle with 216K. At 219K miles I had to put in a timing chain, guides, tensioners, VCT’s, spark plugs, Melling 360V oil pump and cam phasers. Ran great. A month ago I got the check engine light and a code of P0420, oxygen sensors and possibly catalytic converter. Still drove really good. At 220K I put in two 4wd actuators and solenoid. This past Saturday at 224K miles I filled gas. Drove it for a the evening about 18 miles felt slight hesitation. About 20 miles later it dies when coming to a stop. Also, I have to get up to 2K RPM to get it to move when in reverse. Mass Air Flow sensor is clean as well as the air filter. No rattle in the catalytic converter when hit with a rubber mallet. Can’t detect a miss. About to take it to a mechanic but wanted to check here with you guys first.
Thoughts? Bad gas? Catalytic converter?

 

Had similar on a truck i bought. Turned out to be the rear brakes had fallen apart and were binding. Would virtually jam right up when trying to reverse up. The guy befire had been using it lile that and it killed the reverse gear in the transmission.
