Gauges move slightly when I turn on the turn signals or hit the brakes.
When I turn on the head lights all the gauges slightly move and stay there until I turn them off.
When i turn off the engine the fuel gauge kinda drops down a little but not all the way and stops at some random spot
The temperature gauge seems to work correctly.
The electrical gauge also seems to do just fine.
Ive got no codes (OBD1) and the alternator and voltage regulator have not been changed.
lights do not dim or flicker and CEL is off and it does work. Alt. light comes on then goes off after starting.
The only thing I really have done is check battery and its good and cleaned off battery clamps.
Belt tension is good.
Sounds like a ground issue. May be in the gauge cluster but it may be the ground to body or motor. Put the load on it with the heat or ac running high with lights on and hit the brakes and see what it does. I had one in an '88 that the ground to the body from the main cable was bad and it wouldn't start. Drove me nuts trying to figure it out because everything tested good because of the ground to motor but wasn't good enough to start.
Yea, I was also thinking its a ground issue. I just have to figure out where all the grounds are located, body, trans, frame, ETC.
I having some work done on the van this week. Ill ask the mechanic to look into grounds while its on the lift
that way I dont have to become a pretzel again, like every other time ive worked on the van.
(edit) If there is a ground problem maybe it will fix my other issue, JWA mentioned in another thread (edit)
Thanks Spaznaut.
