Hi guys, thanks for the previous information on my question, another area I neeed to clean up is the tilt hood mechanism, it’s agricultural to say the least, I am going to fit heim joints on the currently fitted pivot bar and redo the swivel/stop brackets, the rear/windshield end fitted is a very basic ramp with a sliding steel disc! I am going fabricate a 3/8 rod style bracket to accept a roller fitted to the hood, have got a diagram with measurements from the forum but need a steer on which rollers will be suitable, can search and find many but some feedback ref the size/style part number would be great, just had an op so off the road for a while hence the internet activity, thanks for any feedback. Dave
I needed some rollers a few years ago and found a supplier on the interweb that custom made exactly what I needed and shipped them in a couple of days . I received them within a week and found out the guy was in the Netherlands " if I remember correctly " from the postmark . info@pully-wheel.com I don't know if he's still in operation or not . The site did not list the size I wanted but said to email with what you wanted and he made them . You can choose the quality and type of bearing .
Hi, no luck with finding exactly what I needed, however have ordered some 40mm u groove ones which I will use initially to test the system once the brackets are done, just had delivered some 10mm(3/8) rod today and once back in the garage will bend/weld to shape, will update when I have some headway. Dave
Is he not doing custom ? He didn't have what I wanted listed so I sent him a drawing of what was needed including the bearing size , groove size , depth and how thick of sidewall .
The guy I believe is in Poland, found the firm after your info, the ones I am waiting for are cheap, so will do some testing and then confirm exactly what I need and order accordingly, did you use U groove or v groove? I haven’t got the luxury of seeing any in the flesh over here, so can’t compare with anything. Dave
Here are the ones he made for me 2 1/2 inch deep 3/8 groove steel roller bearing . The only thing he couldn't supply was a standard bolt size only metric .
Actually they don't need to have the U shape at the bottom of the groove and you could get away by putting a spacer/ bushing between some washers...All it does is act as a guide...
Thanks guys, all helps a great deal, understand ref the groove shape, the system the previous guy had employed was really basic, works but he had also cut the hood for scoop etc, in doing this the curvature is slightly out at the rear, just needs massaging a little bit, so will attempt to get a smooth efficient system that also looks okay.
