The work is done. They replaced the rear passenger side bearing, seal and axle. The diagnostic write up on the receipt says that the bearing was loose. They did the work right next to a shop window where I could look in an watch and when they pulled the bearing it had what looked like two distinct wear lines on it. I didn't get to ask the tech if the bearing was worn or bad and the service adviser didn't have any info either. Anyway the truck seems to be much quieter back there or maybe their plan worked and it is a placebo effect on my part. I did notice that the tech boxed up all the old parts so I wonder if Ford requires them back on warranty work?

Ford requires the parts to be returned for warranty claims. Found that out by asking for the old parts a few times in the past, and I've always been told that they couldn't because it was a warranty repair.
