Hi guys/gals, Dave in Wales, need to order some sunvisor brackets, is the bolt/screw spacing/figment different between 53-55 and 56? Can get some 56 up here but struggling with 53-55, not bothered about originality, this truck is far from original! Thanks for any feedback. Dave
I'm not the 53-56 expert, but I think what you'll find is the mounting base is different between the 53-5 and 56 sun visors due to the different windshield and header panel shape and configuration. I'm sure someone will be along shortly that will have some spares they would be willing to send over the pond. Stay tuned. Welcome to the forum!
Yes, the 53-55 visor attachment is different than the 56 visor. But I don't know if the holes are different. Go to dennis carpenter ford web page and compare the two.
From my understanding, Dave has a 53-55 truck and needs the sunvisors for it, but can only find 56 visors and is asking if 56 visors will work on a 53-5. If this is correct, Abe's measurements from a 54 will not help answer the question, if Dave has a 53-5 truck. They will be the same.
That’s correct Wayne, I can get 56 visor brackets, but over here unfortunately it’s not as easy to cherry pick parts from a host of suppliers, shipping over the pond is expensive and add tax, import etc, it doubles/trebles the cost, if the later brackets will fit that would be better, just trying to get this truck roadworthy, the guy I bought it from in Florida was a little economical with his description, will post pics etc later, have put explorer axle, mustang tank, four link, and a stroked 460(532) in it, getting there slowly. Dave
Thanks John, that shows me the issue, if I can’t pick up earlier ones, a simple aluminium adapter plate tapped for the later style would probably do the job. Dave
