Installing Dorman Trans oil pan w/drain plug, '19 F250, 6.2, 31,000 mi. Will not let truck go 150K w/o Fluid change. Changing filter and refill, then drain and refill on a regular schedule, probably w/engine oil change, or every other. Opinions?
Good luck with Dorman parts. I've found them to be complete garbage (my experience has been with bearings but I wouldn't trust their quality control on anything based on past headaches). Why are you replacing the OEM pan?

Yes, replacing the OEM, Was gonna install a drain in the OEM, but for what the Dorman cost, I wanted to keep the OEM stock incase I had an issue for some reason could reinstall it. I have had issues also with Dorman, exhaust manifolds on my '06 F350. They went good for the manifolds, but you know the labor involved in swapping them. Could not find another Trans pan other than Dorman? I will say, it seems solid and heavy, time will tell.

Same experience I had with them. Their warranty was great, they kept giving me new parts, but it was a carrier bearing that crapped out 3 times, all of them with less than 2k miles on them. I had to drop the drive shaft, press out the u-joint and disassmble the yoke, knock off the old bearing and press on the new one. By the 3rd time, it wasn't about the money, I was getting sick of making that swap! Hopefully their casting process is decent and you get a good mating surface.

What's the point of this mod? Excuse my ignorance...
There's a reason there is no drain. The FACTORY / WARRANTY does not want you in there until the scheduled time. This doesn't make it easier but helps keep their equipment running fine without another chance of contamination or other issues meantime. People often put the incorrect or incompatible fluids in their vehicles and this has caused problems with function, contamination and voiding warranties in some cases. To help ease your mind put an external inline filter on and top off with the correct fluid for now, then at the proper scheduled time drop the pan and do your thing. My two cents.
My '17 6r100 has a drain plug. I wonder if Rockauto or one of the genuine Ford parts listings show availability of a part # that's different than what is listed for a '19 pan.

So you plan on changing the transmission fluid every 5-7K? Seems a little excessive to me but to each their own. My '17 [late build] 6R100 doesn't have a pan drain but the gasket is reusable so when the time comes I'll just drop the pan to change it.
I agree 5k is excessive, maybe every 10k is more realistic. Ford claims no service until 150K, that is excessive, IMO. A drain and fill only is about 30% of the capacity. IMO, doing that every 10K or so will cycle in fresh fluid. No way it makes sense to me to go 150K for a drain and fill of 30%. I don't believe I have ever heard anyone say that it is a good thing to "Flush" a high millage trans. Opinions? Very interesting conversation.
Yeah, checked Tasca and local Ford Dealer because of some confusion of part number. Shows drain in diagram, but no mention of it. I called both to double check and pan w/drain no longer available from either. Rockauto had one, but didn't recognize mfg and didn't like discription.
All auto mfg are claiming lifelong fluids for marketing purposes only. Does anyone think that if your owners manual says 150K Trans fluid change interval, and your Trans fails at 125K, they will replace it? Don't think so. Removing the Dipstick and Drain plug is just an other example of the "Nanny State" we now live in...IMO. I will not comply!
