I probably need to start a new thread for this question but I will ask yall first. When I had my 6R80 standing on the bell housing end while I was prepping it for paint it leaked trans fluid through the shaft seal/bearing assembly. (TC removed) It wasn’t a big leak. I didn’t even realize it was there until I tipped the trans on its back to pull the pan off so maybe 20 drops over a week of standing on end. Then the next surprise came. I pulled off the pan and no filter……. I had purchased a new filter because I knew I would be pulling the valve body to install the thermal regulator valve. As I started to look more closely, the trans pan had been pushed in probably 1/4-3/8 of an inch and now I had clearance concerns which may explain why there is no filter. Many thanks LKQ! I am starting to understand why people buy crate motors and transmissions.
Anyway, I am not sure if one is related to the other, but should I be worried by the small leak while it was standing on end?
I pressed the pan back straight again and reinstalled with a new filter, but at this point I am thinking about taking it to a transmission shop to see if there is a problem. Let me know if yall have any experience with this.
Hopefully it’s not a big issue and it’s cheap to fix mine was shipped with no fluid and I didn’t add any until I was putting the torque converter in at which point it was level anyway. No leaks however. I’ll Google it for a while maybe I can come up with something.

Mine was shipped with no fluid but it did have a filter and the pan seal it appeared to never been broken but I changed the filter anyway. Mine was a 2015 F150.
@Jetfixer-6 I know I am being lazy, because I remember reading this in your build thread, I just don’t remember the details. What pulleys system did you use for your engine? I ordered PBH’s system, everything is good except they located the PS pump on the bottom right of the engine which doesn’t clear because of my steering box.
@Jetfixer-6 That is a nice set up. We will see how the next version fits. So your alternator cleared your steering box on the other side? I have a new alternator, but I haven’t fitted it yet, I will need to turn around a couple of bolts I used for the engine mounts. That will mess up my nice new paint job, but I guess it was bound to happen on the chassis. I held it up in that space and it looks like it will fit.
Alternator has decent clearance. But putting the engine so far to the passenger side for the alternator to clear it resulted in no clearance for factory mustang headers so I used the Ford Racing Coyote manifold instead. Zoom in for alternator close up Ford Racing Coyote manifolds
Well I have about everything done that I have parts for at this point. I ordered a new pulley system for the engine, gas tank and fuel lines are on the way. Tires should be in today and I will have them mounted so I can finally get my brakes set up. Getting closer.
I am gone hunting for a couple of weeks so I will talk to you when I get back and let you know how it’s going. Thank you for all your help! Have a great weekend!
