Got my dual SS ordered. Now, I’m seeing them mounted both ways; piston to the outside and piston to the center mounts. Going to ask which way you like, and why.
I have the Kelderman dual stabilizer and the shock bodies are also mounted toward the center. If mounted with the shock body towards the outside, the shock body will contact the mounting brackets on the tie rod ends while turning lock to lock.
I need some clarification, is the piston referring to the shock body, or shaft?
Haha... Glad I'm not the only one, have rebuilt, tuned, broken, repeat many many times and the piston has always been in the body/cylinder... Hence I'm the lone ranger in the poll Now if your talking about the shaft as being the piston because it's attached to the shaft I guess that works to, but all my years in MX, road racing etc... have never seen it posed this way....
Sorry. I’m referencing the shaft as the piston rod. Mix on words. To me, those pics above represent the “piston” to the outside/cylinder to the inside.
on my 2019 f-450 using PMF and fox, I had less than 1/16 clearance between shock body and one of the cross bars. called PMF and they said it was OK to reverse the install so that the bodies were outboard.
might be a consideration if you have an f-450 to determine which shock body has the smallest diameter so there is more clearance.
I can't say I've ever seen them mounted with the shock body to the outside. Not saying you can't,just haven't seen it.That said,my Keldermann mounts shock body to the center......and I think they look better that way as well.

All good, but technically in the pictures the piston resides in the body, and the rod/shaft is outbound! So with that my single vote would be moved😉

I’ve seen many more mounted with the body toward the center, but when I saw a few mounted the opposite way, it seemed to be more of a personal preference. Here’s a pic of one that had me questioning.
I just had my truck done and the shock bodies are mounted toward the outside. This is the kit that BDS sells with their lift kits. In the instructions it specifically says to mount the shock bodies to the outside bracket.
