Most days I try to behave myself. I have been driving for about 3 1/2 years now. I haven't ever gotten a ticket or been in an accident. Last night I was being stupid, I lit them up for about 40 feet. I didn't really intend too, I was helping a friend and he got an ambulance call, told me to move fast, so I jumped in and floored the old beast and the rear tires came alive, screeching and smoking. There weren't any other cars in the parking lot, and most of the kids had gone home for the weekend.
The public safety officers said I have to go in front of a commitee of my peers and they will decide on my punishment. I could get banned from campus and a fine up to $500.
Banned from campus??? Are you sure they didn't mean banned from parking on campus? If the former is the case, I'd hate to see what they do to a drunk freshman.

Huummm. Kinda comparing apples to oranges, I think.
Let me ask you this:
How many loved ones would you have to lose to think that ALL drunk drivers should simply be shot on the spot?
As long as my kids were not in front of the vehicle, you could burn your money (tires) all day, and it wouldn't bother me a bit.
. . well, until it was time to take my daily nap anyway.

There are daily instances of alcohol poisoning, there were 7 reported that night as well. This is on a campus of roughly 550 students. I am surprised that drinking enforcement is so lax. I have had to help students get back to campus because they were drinking too much, its something that I do for my own safety as well.
I have learned now that the list if punishments says banning my vehicle from campus for the remainder of the semester. Thats okay with me, there are only about 7 weeks left anyway.
You said you were on your way to an ambulance call, I would be careful mentioning that. I can't think of a single emergency organization that promotes driving wrecklessly to get to a call. We've had members of our fire department suspended for actions like that. If they get light of that, you friend might be in hot water with the EMS unit that he is associated with. It might be easier to take the heat and learn a lesson.
I was moving my vehicle so that he could respond to an ambulance call, he had no discretion over how I moved it, just that it was out of the way.
I know all about that, he was responding to an accident one time and a state trooper pulled him over and he was not able to respond in time to possibly save a life.
Suck it up. Admit that something stupid happened and that you did it. Pay the fine. It's not like you killed someone, and I'm sure the "peer jury" will be reasonable. Years from now it won't even be worth remembering.
