You sure that is a '76? Looks more like a '78-79 grille. 76 had the letters at the top of the grill; 78-79 moved the letters onto the front of the hood. Believe someone here said that only the Customs had round headlights in '78, and that all of the '79s went to rectangular. Guess Ford wanted to burn off the last of the round-light parts.
The truck pictured could be a '76 or '77 with the '78/'79 grille on it, or it could be a '78 or '79 with a '76/'77 hood on it. Only way to know for sure what year it is is by the door jamb tag.
Square (rectangle) headlights did not come on a 77 AFAIK. So X2 it has a 78/79 outer grill shell, one piece insert, rectangle headlight assemblies and 78/79 bumper put on it. And yes you run the 77 no letter hood with the 78/79 grill set up. Also yes you can put all that on a 77.
1979 F250 Ranger XLT on the left and Oct made 1977 F250 with a 79 bumper I put on it, on the right. The "Warranty Plate" should be riveted to the dvrs side door edge with the manufacture year and the white Safety Certification should be on the B pillar and have the manufacture month and year. And they should match the Vi# on the paper title, and of course match the frame vi#.
On a 4wd the vi# should be in the red box.
Well the outer grill shell just bolts on the front fenders and the headlight assemblies mount on the core support. The outer grill dictates what inserts you use, either the 2 piece or the 1. Even if you have a early core support there are dimples in the core support to be able to properly drill the holes and mount the rectangle headlights assemblies and vice versa.
Interesting, I always thought I preferred the lettering in the grill but looking at your two trucks side by side they both have great looks. I wont know til i look at it, assuming the truck is still there. It does have some damage to the passenger side of the chrome grill so may need to be replaced at some point.
Yeah it definitely has its issues but that's what projects trucks have. It seems to sit higher in the front end but then he may be storing something in the back as well.
There is no engine in this truck in this picture, I would suggest all 4 pics were taken when the engine was out and that is why it is sitting high in front as there is no weight on front suspension. I don't know the guy, I saw the same ad a day ago lol
