P2002 code with TSB 20-2272

So not sure what to make of this code. Information seems to indicate the Unicorn is fine. P2002, is a DPF efficiency is below threshold if I recall.

Seems to me like all is ok. It threw the check engine light but when I check the code it was only pending. Cleared it.

Thoughts? Maybe the truck is upset because it doesn't regen very often.

truck says current at zero% soot. Idash says 9% no issue there.

This is the last regen 1020 is the distance since last.

1,020 miles since last AR and only 9%? Something isn't reading right, there's no way soot is that low with that distance. It seems like the computer was expecting an AR at this point and since none, trigger a DTC as something is outside of parameters.

Well that might be, but miles wise only 100 miles since the regen. Even in my last truck I tow cross country from Maryland to Colorado without a regen. that is 1600 miles and no codes. Obviously if I were to take it in, the dealer would only do a software update and call it good at this point.

All the data appears fine to me in the screen shots.

Veridict I think is in. DPF pressure sensor I think is bad. Don't know for sure. within 100 miles the code is back and the check engine light is on.

It has been 231 miles since last regen. at 13% soot on the idash and zero on the truck. Pipes are clean. Today was 120 mile round trip so it had time to self resolve.

I guess I will have to do the rodeo with the service dept.

A likely good guess since OBD operation states the PM sensor is fine with this DTC.

Just to update. Check engine light is out, Soot is building normally, both truck and idash are in agreement, truck at 15% Idash at 16%. So time will tell. I am going to drive the truck a bunch unloaded and watch to see if it returns.

Would rather not take it in for what we know will just be a reflash.

Had to go out in the snow with some 4x4 use last night and then again this morning.

So to update this thread. Light came on again while towing so took it in for the repair. Third time the light came on and this was not a pending code.

There is a TSB out on this issue. TSB 20-2272 (attached) which directs a replacement of the DPF for cracks in the substrate.

My tailpipes did not indicated that this was the issue but regardless, 6300 miles and a new DPF.

Put a good 50 miles on it and seems to be working fine.

I suspected something was wrong with your DPF. You didn't have frequent enough regens.

Keep track of your mileage between regens. What are the chances of getting 2 unicorns in one lifetime?

Well I guess we will see, I thought for sure I had another unicorn. so they just did a manual regen at 6400 miles, will be tracking it with the idash.

Better to have this issue resolved now than the unfortunate opportunity to pay for that hardware out of pocket.

Thinking about this issue. I think what happened is my last regen was weird. I had reported that it was proceeding as normal, Had been about 1200 miles since the last one. During the process it proceeded to reduce the soot with EGT's where I would expect them to be, Then If I recall EGT 14 shot up pretty high and the soot dropped like a count down clock would of.

So I wonder if I broke it, lol.

Just a follow up post DPF replacement. I just completed my first regen since the replacement at 695 miles. About what I would expect given the time of year and my activities.

What is different is the length of regen 14 miles. I have always averaged about 6 to 8 miles to complete a regen. Maybe it had to do with speed. Got behind some slow folks.

Good news is no more check engine light and the burn process was normal.

695 miles when I told it to regen

14 miles later, Idash regen status off
