The rust on my long bed is pretty bad, through the fender wells and support beams underneath in many areas also. The fenders from the outside look ok generally. What are my options here?
Mine is in the same shape as yours. What I was thinking for mine is searching for a new one that has a good floor.
But if not then I will fabricate a wood bed in place of the metal.
Just a thought from someone in the same boat as you.
I know of a F100 where the builder took a newer GM bed and welded the F100 fenders to it. If my buddy wasn't a GM guy I would never have known that was done. You really could not tell that the F100 fenders did not belong there.
Granted, you would need some metal working skills to pull it off but that but it seems like an affordable alternative. ~Pat
And I liked the metal floor in place of the wood on my flare side LOL
I used a style side 8ft bed, made it shorter and cut the sides off leaving just the floor part and bolted my sides (after a lot of fixing) to it.
You don't have to use a GM floor just look for any bed floor (ford) that is in good shape but the sides are trashed.
My bed came off a roll over and 1 side was caved in, other side had a little rust also but the floor that was bed lined was in good shape.
I think they say you can just hang your bed sides on to the inner bed side / floor and have a good bed.
I would do a little measuring of newer take off truck beds to see if the floor bolt holes will line up with yours.

I'm in the process of replacing mine with a wood floor similar to the light blue truck above. Mine was probably in about the same shape as yours. I'm going to start a build thread when I get closer to completion. I'm not very fast so I don't want to drag out the thread forever. The old floor has been cut out, the support crossmembers have been repaired and I'm just about ready to start on the wood. I hope to have it complete this summer.
