Yeah, I thought the WiFi in truck, and remote start feature in the FordPass app was only free for 3 months, and then $20 a month after that for the cellular service.

Looks like varying complimentary periods for different model years and features. https://owner.ford.com/support/how-t...pot-trial.html
I'm guessing one year for the remote start on my 2020. If they think I'm paying $20 a month for the privilege, they're mistaken.
Poncho, I'm with ya, I'm not a fan of any paid subscription services. I belive the paid part on 20 and newer trucks is the wifi hot spot, which is a service you get from AT&T. I already have a stand alone hot spot from them that I use for camping so I'm not paying for the truck subscription. But how it was explained to me is that the other features such as the remote start are included in the purchase price. I did a bit of research and that seems to be the case from what I've read. I have a f350 on order so I can only report what the dealer told me and from what I've read. If it turns out I have to pay a subscription the trial will be the end of it for me.
*FordPass Connect required for remote features. Connected services and features depend on compatible AT&T network availability. Evolving technology/cellular networks/vehicle capability may limit functionality and prevent operation of connected features. Connected service excludes hotspot. **Automatic transmission only. App Store is a service mark of Apple Inc. Google Play is a trademark of Google Inc.
So, the $20/mo is only if you want to have the Hotspot active.
Edit - from the FAQ in the link above:
Ford is the only non-luxury automaker to offer complimentary remote features* to all customers with FordPass Connect (embedded modem). All 2021 model-year and newer Ford vehicles are equipped with FordPass Connect.
I’m under the impression Ford pass is free. Ford seems to be using it to send out service reminders to get you to take the vehicle to the dealership. If Ford tries to charge me for it , that will be the end of it for me. It’s not something I need.
I've had Ford Pass for over a year and have remote start for my truck. The minute Ford changes $20 for the app I'll delete it. It's not that I can't afford it, just tired of paying $10 - $50 for things that I've survived most of my life without.
In Oct. 2019 I recieved a message in Fordpass saying, "Remote features on your FordPass Connect -equipped vehicle, once offered for a trial period, are now complimentary."
Thank you for all of the replies. Sounds like the remote start feature is free for the life of the vehicle. I don't need the other things, but I do like the remote start.
