Question Flare Dilemma

Ok, here is the scoop. I have a 1996 Explorer XLT. It was advertised as a Eddie Bauer when i bought it. When i went to look at it(saw it in an ad), i realized it was not an eddie bauer due to having no fender flares, or the logo, but everything else could pass off as eddie bauer. Well, i bought it because it was a great deal, and thought i could just buy fenderflares from a junkyard, or from my dealership, and the dealership said this was possible. Well, after a few years of having it, i really began to desire fenderflares. So, i look at junkyards, and cannot find any, so then I purchase them from my dealer. Well, theyre not the exact color of my two tone, so i am going to paint them. Local body shops are claiming that they will need to re-paint the two tone so it will match perfectaly, and i dont believe that, so i am going to prep them, and have my brother paint them for me. Well, after this long story above, here is my question. The fenderflares require holes drilled into the side of the fender, and i would rather not do that, there are also holes that go inside the fender, and i got to looking, and there are already pre-drilled holes there. can i just drill into the holes that are already there, and just attach the top with super strength double sided tape, or a bond/puddy? another thing. The little piece of trim that i suppose protects the car from getting door dings(runs along doors, has a little chrome strip inside), this gets in the way of the fenderflares when i put them up to the side of the car. Should i use a dremel tool to make a gap in the flare? or what do you all suggest i do. The flares are plastic, and i cannot cut. Or would it be a smarter idea to cut part of the trim piece off. Thanks for ANY input. Everyone i seek help for thinks im crazy for purchasing these flares in the first place, and will not help.
