Bed mounting

63 wrong bed frame, about done chopping a long bed to fit. From what I've read the bed bolts right to the frame. Anything between the bed and frame like pads, rubber isolators, etc? What size bolts do I need? I'm assuming grade 8, though I'd imagine grade 5 hardware would be fine as there shouldn't be much force on the bolts.

Looks like 1/2x5" carriage bolts should work. Frame is 4".

Don't need to go through full height of frame, just the top leg.

Bed to frame hardware kits are available from numerous suppliers for $15. From what I have read on this forum, as a general rule of thumb on style side beds, long beds use the wood block spacers while short beds tend to use a rubber strip at each bolt between bed and frame.

Could of swore there was a hole on top and bottom part of frame for the bolt to go through. Be easier to tighten and remove as well. Easier to cut the bolt too in case a bit doesn't want to come off down the road.

Not sure. Maybe 3.5-4" long wide enough to fit tight between the bed frame rail, and tall enough they stick out about 1/8-1/4" from the bottom of the rail. I'd say 1/4" as you'll need to account for pressure from bolts/load squishing them some.

Also note that I had to chop off about 4" of frame at the rear and reposition the rear most cross support between frame channel. I also see that the front two bed bolts line up, but the others are off by a couple inches and new frame holes need to be drilled

My 63 had blocks made of oak. That rear bumper you have is bowed pretty bad, it should be straight across.

So...the long bed I shortened (style side) has wooden blocks. Onna wrong bed frame. Once I sandblast everything I'll add rubber between be and frame where it contacts. Any issue with lining the length of the frame with it or just keep it at the bolt mounts?
