15" wheels

Thought I'd post this for fun.
I picked up some Jeep yj wheels with 235/75r15 tires and installed them with zero clearance issues. You could maybe squeeze a pair of 30s on with a decent lift, although the tire might rub with that size lol.

Looks good. I got a set of mid-90's Explorer wheels for mine with 215/65/15 tires. This size is very close to the diameter of the stock tires:

Those 235/75/15 are a couple inches taller than stock, so it's like going to 10% taller gear ratio. I'm glad to know that there's no interference, but my van is pretty slow as it is, so I would not want to slow it further with taller gears.

But this upgrade is really good in a couple ways. First, it's really hard to find 14" tires of the right size. Second, 15" tires are just stronger, and really is more appropriate if you have the heavir extended van.

Some jeep wheels fit, and some don’t. I speak from experience...

That aero of yours seems to be really well kept, also very clean. Looks new haha.
I couldn't find a decently sized all terrain tire to save my life that will fit a 14" wheel. Plus from what I gathered from reading related posts, is that the 15" will really help with stability. Since mine is the extended 4x4 I'm sure it'll be much better than using the stock sized wheels. Once I install the coil spacers to add a couple inches, I'll also install a 4x4 switch. This will at least lock the t-case when I need it on light trails.

Thanks guys, but the pictures may be a little deceiving; that front picture is from 2006. and there has been a lot of fading of the clearcoat since then that are not obvious. On the side view, you might notice that from the front passenger door forward, the paint is a little dull compared to the sliding door and aft. It's always been like that, I don't think it was in an accident before, so I've never figured out why the difference.

The stock 14" wheels and tires were too small even for the original Aerostar; a shorty with a 2.3 liter I4, or a 3 liter v6 that weighed a lot less than my extended length with 4wd. They get overloaded and wear out fast, or fail catastrophically. Again on the side view picture, you might notice a little dent on the rear fender lip. That's where my last 14" tire lost its tread at 65 mph and slapped the wheel well a few times before it flew off. And so it had been with my previous couple sets of 14" tires; their treads began to separate, and I was lucky to have caught most of them before they destroyed themselves, or the failure was slow enough for me to catch them. But this last set caught me by surprise, as they did not have a lot of miles on them, and one failed rather suddenly. So that was strong motivation to do an upgrade.
