NOT talking about the tape on the outside ones, just the ones that go inside the frame. I can't find them locally but found these on amazooly and wondered if anyone else have these ones or another brand ?
I had AVS on my previous '19 and this is the first vehicle where I wasn't overly happy with them. Generally, I go for in-channel vs. tape on because I think they look a little cleaner and tend to stay in place better. I've had in-channel vent visors on all of the vehicles I've owned to date, this is the first one I wasn't happy with. The channels on the '19 were really stiff and, every so often, would cause issues with the power windows (they wouldn't close all the way, sensed an obstruction and would lower again). I installed them as directed, in the summer, on a warm day and left them in the sun with the windows up which was supposed to help 'stretch' the window molding. The AVS product was great, just wasn't a fan of them on this particular truck.
I have Weathertech in channels on my 2020. The biggest thing I've found when I'm installing the in channels is to do them when its going to be warm and the truck is in the sun for a few days. I put mine on when it was 80 degrees out and didn't open the windows for about 3 days.
I have in channel on my 2020 and like the others, do it when it is hot and leave the windows up for a few days. You may also have issues with the auto return feature for a little bit till things get broken in.
Other than that, I do generally like them but they do cause a bit of additional wind noise at highway speeds.
Pugga & George, did your AVS have just tape or also have the clips ?
The one I posted had clips and as you all were posting I saw the AVS but AVS only had tape . I worried that without the clips the window would hit it.
I had in channel back in the 80's and 90's on other vehicles but couldn't find IN channel for my 2006 back then and just left it. The ones in the 80's was easy as they went between metal and rubber. These new ones go between rubber and glass so I am hesitant now.
thank you for your answers I guess I will have to wait till it gets really warm out to install ☹
Just echoing the "warm and in the sun" comments but wanted to say, because it's winter, we don't get a lot of heat during the day. I would hit both the product and the vehicle with a hair dryer too. Get both surfaces up to ~100 degrees F.
Just tape.
Zero issues, same on any of my past trucks and wife’s Expedition.
The installation is pretty straight forward. Just take your time. The rears are super easy. I removed the tape covering first.
In the front, the tricky part is getting them fully seated at the very front lip (circled) where you begin installing them.
The leading lip needs to by slipped fully under the plastic portion of the mirror mount. The leading front lip is maybe 1” of edge.. It takes a little coaxing. Get it in there as far as you can.
If not, they will not fit properly at the very back. Very tight tolerance.
Make sure they are sitting evenly from front to back in the channel first, without any bow, then carefully roll up. You may need to pull out very slightly to get the window to roll up and to not engage the safety roll down feature.
Once the window is fully closed, just leave it be for a few days. Warm temperature is a definite plus. After that, you won’t even notice they are there.
Once the window is rolled up and the 3M tape has a chance to fully cure, they’re not coming out...
I don’t find any wind noise either. AVS designs a very thin and well fitting product. Unlike the nasty stick-on type, they look stock.

I'm not sure what you mean by clips but the AVS fitment was spot on. The issue was the physical space that the window and the vent visor needs to occupy in the channel. The window would go up, try to squeeze into the channel, it was too tight so it thought there was an obstruction and it'd go back down. I did install mine in the summer, black truck and it lives outside so it was plenty hot when I installed them. This is the first vehicle I've had this sort of issue with.
I know they sell a lot of them and many people use and like them or they wouldn't. I've tried them twice over the years. No go for me. No matter how warm the weather, how long I let them sit with the windows completely up I still ran up agains the smart window problem. As soon as the window was near the top of it's travel it would touch the visor and go back down.
I fought with 2 sets of these on different trucks before I decided to just go back to stick ons. My experience has been that the stick ons don't come off for anything. They stick so well that I don't even attempt to get them off at trade time, I just let them go with the truck.

This has been my experience as well. I tried 2 different sets on my truck and just couldn't get them to work but I really wanted them to work. Curious why some get them to work and others don't. User error? Probably, lol. I eventually went with stick ons as well and my truck being black, they actually look pretty good. AirSleek is the brand I chose.

If I end up with vent visors on my current truck, I'm going stick on. I don't recall which brand, but one of them makes them so they look continuous across the jamb and they look pretty slick. Low profile and a clean look. Not sold on stick ons but not going in channel on this truck again.

Weather tech...... I threw the small metal clips away. I found then to be useless and dangerous to the window. It took a couple of weeks (in the winter) for the auto mechanism to adjust (I'm assuming that's what it does), when it bounced back and wouldn't go all the way I took my palm and pushed it up. It's been a year and not one bounce back. It will lightly scratch the top 2 or so inches of the window. I think it's night and day in the looks department. Also, adhesive compared to a mechanical connection sunk in with water running down shingle style. Washing my trucks by hand the adhesive ones always would get the spot in the front a little loose even with proper prep...................... My 3 cents
Yeah I can't understand why some work and some don't. Must be the tape I would think or a warp in manufacturing ?
I ended up buying the ones I listed, should be here Sunday. Suppose to be 42º and I have no real reason to drive the truck for a week. I have another car for driving to work.
Thanks all, Hope this helps others and I will let you know how it goes
I've used AVS brand for 20 years, on every vehicle I've had. Tried in channel twice & no go for me, caused issues. I just use the stick on type & have never ever had an issue.
