Can you put a remote starter in a standard diesel ???

I thought you couldn't but I heard it was possible to put them in standard gas cars ..... so maybe diesel too ???

I have a 93 F350 Diesel standard .... Is it possible to put a remote starter in that ???

Someone fill me in

Thx

I'm pretty sure that there are remote starters made for diesels. Check http://www.designtech-intl.com/ for more information.

Yes, but you need a remote starter capable. Not recommending this but here is one. http://www.12voltshop.com/proddetail...t=12&path=1,12

remote starter no

i would not remote start a stick shift anything.
if ya leave it in gear 1 time and part supposed to not let it start in gear dosn't care.
your truck will crash!!!

what i do.
i have remote starter but is -not- connected to starter.
not very convenient but, when parked at work i can start it with key, then let in stay running without key.
mine is an alarm too. that way i can leave running in winter locked up, armed and running with no key to steal.
not as nice but this way i don't have to worry about running over bosses car
i like this because i can't see my truck outside at work.

I remembered reading something about diesels when I installed my Design Tech remote starter. There is a dip switch that should be set to wait about starting the engine until the wait to start light goes out. Does that make sense. I've never had a diesel before.

remote start diesal auto tranny

remote starts have two differant things.
1. way to set time before crank 2. wire connect to glow plug light,
both so they wait.
depend on system, how remote starter learns tach, if in fact it will.
they make a part, goes on alternator with strap. gives good pulse to read tach on all models.
the tach pulse of a diesel is much lower than gas about.03.
gas averages .80 to 7 vac.
hope this helps.
don't need to hook up any of this if ya start like my last post with shifter.

I have installed the Ford "Gold" remote start/security system in my F150 gas. It definitely can handle a Diesel and has a programming option for delay start (for the glow plug). However, the sales brochure says it is for automatic transmission vehicles only.

Your local Ford dealer!

Be warned: They will try to talk you into letting them install it, because it's a difficult installation. Unless you're really good, you probably should let them! Although actually, it is the security system part that's involved; maybe you can get remote start separately.

By "standard" did you mean manual trans?..'cause I don't know that it will work on other than automatics.

I have the Ford brand remote starter in my 2000 150 Econoline Standard Gas engine with automatic transmission. Had the dealer install it, although even they had a hard time (they underestimated the time to put it in) there were between 60 and 80 wires to attach and I would look for the units capabilities. such as: mine must be in park, with the hood closed to start, I would assume that the sensor for my "In Park" would also be able to sense "In Neutral" on a manual trans.

a lot of idiot checks occur, if hood is opened it shuts off, if you step on the brake (which you have to do to shift into drive) it shuts off, if the engine revs up (over ~2000 rpm give or take) it will shut off. these are good things!

I remember seeing the wires for setting up a Diesel engine so I assume it would work with one.

When mine tries to start it will attempt the cycle 5 times (such as if I left the hood open and attempted to start, it wont crank unless all is well), something a Diesel at 10 degrees F may need.

As for a manual transmission I would worry even with the sensors. I cannot pull my key unless I am in park, not the case for a manual trans.

just my nickels worth!:

Anyone have any info on this item I found thru a web search
Not much info on whether you can use it on a diesel. I like the fack that it has keyless entry and an alarm all for under 100 buck

Would this be a plug and play item or is the installation a royal pain

Check out this website for possible information.

If the information isn't on the site you could probably at least get a contact phone number.
