Hi All! I just joined this forum. I have a 2020 F350 Superduty and considering changing my bulbs to LED. There are so many products out there. What is the difference between the plug in bulb vs the pug in bulb with the transformers? Is one better than the other? Any recommendations on best products to look at? I looked at f150led.com and they seem to have good products. Anyone use their products for a conversion from halogen to led? Thanks, Rich
I assume you're talking headlights. Get ready. You'll get some recommendations. You'll get some folks swearing up and down you should never ever put them in a halogen housing. This has been cussed and discussed many, many times here on the forum. I decided long ago that it benefits no one to debate the subject here.
But since you're new and haven't experienced the place, I'll give you some of my experience. I started out 12/17 putting Beamtech (from Amazon) into my 2017. Big improvement over stock halogens. I used them in the 2019 I had after that. Many people here have used them and like them. Some have had issues and went in another direction. Just like any product. Some have great luck, some not so much.
Just about the time I bought my 2020 back in October, a forum member tried 3 brands of LED and gave a review. A very good review in my opinion. He also cited some other sources that had tested those brands. After reading that I decided to try Hikari. So far I like them better than the Beamtech. They seem to dial in better and have the hot spot where I like it. I had to be sure and adjust them downward enough to strike a balance between working the way I wanted but not blinding oncoming drivers. They cost more than Beamtech but so far I think they're worth it.
Speaking of adjustment, don't go in thinking that your headlights came adjusted where they should be from the dealer. On my 2017 I found that they were adjusted to max height right off the lot. Also do you research and make sure that the LED chips are oriented correctly to the 3 and 9 o'clock positions when you install or you'll have light scattered everywhere but where you want it.
Even though I didn't buy my headlights there I found that Headlight Revolution had some good YouTube videos on adjustment. There are many bulbs at many price points, the choice is all up to you.
If you decide to change out any other bulbs in the truck SuperBright LED has a spot on their website showing replacement bulb numbers. Watch out on the front turn signals, they can be tricky. Too many places have incorrect numbers. I found that a 4257 worked best, not the recommended 7443 or 7444 I'd seen other places.
When replacing turn signals you either need to add a resistor or get into the truck's BCM with FORScan to adjust or you'll show a hyper flash on your instrument cluster, even though the bulbs are flashing at a normal speed when view from outside the truck.
I know it's a lot of information. I'm sure more guys will post their opinions and experiences too. Good luck!

Thank You! This is helpful. I look forward to all the the responses.

You mentioned that you have a 2020 truck... Did you use the FORScan values from the 2017-2019 spreadsheet? The 2020+ spreadsheet doesn't show the values that I could see when I looked yesterday.
I'm want to swap out a number of bulbs to LED and don't want to worry about resistors.

Thanks.
I don't recall exactly but I don't think I changed any values. I think I used the "verbal" menu (for lack of a better word) and just changed ABM Outage to No Outage.
Unfortunately that was back in early November and I haven't had FORScan in use since then.

Thanks, I will have to take a closer look. I haven't really tried anything with FORScan yet so I still need to get comfortable with how everything works.
I am running the Beamtechs. Have worked flawless. No issues with flicker or radio interference. No issues with scatter or blinding other drivers. I will add though, when I added about 500lbs in sandbag for the winter in my bed. The next time I drove at night, I got flashed by every car. Got home and aimed them down a touch and haven't been flashed since. That would have happened regardless if I was running halogen or OEM led.

Take your time and you'll sort it out as you go. I almost have to relearn every time because I use it so infrequently. In fact I usually have to renew the temporary free license.
I probably won't use mine again until the new tire size values come out.

I actually bought a set of the new Morimoto hybrids for my 2019. But while I was waiting for them to arrive I ended up getting a $2500 ECO and buying a new 2020. Morimoto hadn't yet caught up to the 2020 so I returned them without ever opening the box. I recommend Dude's Diesel Performance if anyone is considering Mori's. https://dudesdieselperformance.com
Clayton treated me very well throughout the transaction and return process.
As well as not being a simple part swap/plug & play. Unless someone has come up with ready made harnesses since I last read up on it. Which is entirely possible.
The method I had originally seen showed pin swaps within plugs. Something that I'd just as soon not get involved in.
@DCRockdog , I'm researching the same thing and there are so many different options along with real world user reviews.
I was originally considering the Supernova V3/V4s and am still probably going to go this route. The Beamtechs seem to perform fairly well and are a lot cheaper. Looks like some folks have issues with radio interference, though.
