2014 FX4. I would like to change to aftermarket Housings with LED bulbs. Most of them say they're not for the model w/factory HID, Curious if that's because they assume you're trying use your HID bulb and ballast. If You eliminate all of that, why would'nt you be able you use any aftermarket assembly with LED bulbs. Did a search on here and could'nt find this particular problem. Thanks all

The wiring is the reason, those aftermarket led kits are designed for halogen equipped trucks and the harness is different than HID equipped. I wouldn't go that route as others have and were sorely disappointed because oem HID are much better than anything aftermarket makes with exception to higher quality HID bulbs and projectors.
My truck came with halogen and I equipped it with oem HID's simply because they are far and away superior for visibility.
If you're wanting the aftermarket bling associated with those type of lights I suggest you check out some of these builds that will be plug-n-play with your trucks wiring. https://www.raptorretrofit.com/09-14-f150/
Alot of what I've read says that some of the newest technology in LED is comparable and even superior to factory HID. I have to replace my R/S assembly, but aftermarket I can get both sides, and Morimoto LEDs for much less than the replacement. But I've only found two manufacturers that say will work on trucks w/factory HID, but I'm not crazy with the styles they have available. Wondering why some work and others don't. Unless anyone knows where I can get just the clear lens for the factory bucket.

I wholeheartedly disagree. My experience has shown the 2 out of 3 times I'm disappointed with LED replacements with zero percent satisfaction with LED headlight bulbs. Replacing the entire reflector assy with those designed for LEDs is the only acceptable solution IMO. Rarely do LEDs work well with reflectors designed for a different type of bulb. Plus I'm finding the LEDs are not up to the task. In less than a yr I've had 2 fail and 2 fall apart. Yes, literally, just break into several different pieces. And these all are the ones claim to be "the best, designed specifically for my vehicle."
I believe you're better off adding additional lighting to supplement waht you have rather then replacing what you have with something halfazzed.

Hey kewl for you man, if you can design a wiring harness jumper that works to convert oem Ford HID to halogen, roll with with the idea.
