ECM issue?

Hey guys, new member here. Possibly getting my 1st IDI truck. Its an eyesore but only 150k on 91 motor and all the mechanicals are good. Now when I'm driving it around testing it out the guy says to me "yeah i got a spare ECM also." which struck me as odd being its a mechanical engine and 5spd manual trans. googling "91 7.3IDI ECM" indeed shows ecms for sale but theyre all bigger then the small box he pointed out to me. Tried searching around here but couldnt seem to see anything that pertained to this. I aplogize if this has been covered before.

there are several Electronic control modules, post a part number or a picture and we can identify it.

your Truck does not use a PCM/TECA or sometimes called ECM as you do not have the E4OD Transmission so maybe for ABS or wiper module.

well, not mine yet. I haven't pulled the trigger just yet. I'm a little concerned that the engine and battery lamps are lite up, the cruise and horn both don't work and all the dash heat/AC panel lights are out. Mechanically and frame wise its sound, runs and drives sweet. But the few electrical things and the pretty rough body are a bit of a concern. He's got it listed for 45, said he'd do 3 but I'm trying to persuade him to go 25. I'd go 3 but would feel better at 25. Anyhoo, I don't know what part number this kid bought, I just saw the box. Young kid that thinks he knows way more then he does is the current owner. when the window washer didn't work he 1st tried to say he "didn't think these old trucks had sprayers like the modern ones do." When I pointed out that "I dunno, the **** says washer and it pushes, maybe the pumps gone?" hes says "no, its there, I think maybe its just empty" lol. He also attempted to tell me its the long bed because the bed is definitely longer then 8' and explained to me that the cubby spot to the right of the steering wheel was for my change. I didn't think the truck had any time of electrical modules myself so I don't know what heck the kid bought.

well the Cruise control uses a module and the Glow plug controller could be called an "electronic Module"

I installed my CB Radio in the "cubby spot" could be a bad voltage regulator causing the Battery light. and the Headlight switch could be reason all dash lights are out

of course I'm just guessing without more input... it does sound like a project .......

You could always offer him $2k and meet in the middle. Did you start the truck when it was cold? When I bought mu Bullnose the GPs didn't work at all.
